George Grosz (1893 Berlin - 1959 ibid) was a German painter, graphic artist and caricaturist. After studying in Dresden (1909/10), Berlin and Paris (1913), initially as a caricaturist for satir. Zss. like "The Bankruptcy". In Berlin, along with Raoul Hausmann and Hannah Höch, he is one of the co-founders of the Dada group, which is strongly politically oriented here. In his works, often caricatures, he mocks the ruling circles of the Weimar Republic, takes up social differences and criticizes business, politics, the military and the clergy in particular.
