Crafoord Auktioner opens the month of September with a truly exquisite selection of art, craft, and design. Under the heading Crafoord Curated, the auction presents everything from Old Master paintings to modern jewelry. The highlight is Ola Billgren’s imposing and captivating work Cityscape from 1984. Also from Billgren’s studio comes Sädesfält, once exhibited at the renowned Galerie Leger in Malmö. Alongside these treasures is a Madonna painting attributed to Giovambattista Verrocchi, active in Florence during the 16th century.
On the design side, the catalogue features furniture by Finn Juhl, Hans J. Wegner, and Axel Einar Hjorth. Adding further distinction are a pair of first-rate rugs by Märta Måås-Fjetterström. One should also take note of Harald Nielsen’s silver cutlery set, an 18K gold Rolex ladies’ wristwatch, and Sven Bertil Herlow Svensson’s aluminum sculpture from 1967. Among the rarer gems are a Parisian evening gown from the 1960s, Ernest Hemingway’s signature, and a cello crafted by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume.
