A meticulously curated treasure trove in the heart of Gothenburg—this has been the story of Beso Ur & Antik ever since its founding in the Antikhallarna in 1975. However, with the passing of its founder and longtime proprietor, Bertil Svensson, earlier this year, a significant chapter has come to an end for Gothenburg's antiques community.
Bertil Svensson, who was also a renowned expert on Sweden's popular TV show Antikrundan for 20 years, earned the respect and admiration of collectors and the general public alike. His vast knowledge, understated manner, and subtle humor made him a beloved figure who brought charm and expertise to the program.
Following his passing, Stockholms Auktionsverk has been given the honor of auctioning a selection of fine timepieces, jewelry, silver, and other antiques from Beso Ur & Antik. Among the highlights are distinguished wristwatches from Omega, IWC, and Patek Philippe. One standout piece is a 1914 silver case featuring a relief portrait of French General Joseph-Jacques-Césaire Joffre, alongside an exquisite savonnette from Jules Jürgensen, a Danish 19th-century work in 18K gold. Additionally, pieces such as fish cutlery by royal jeweler W. A. Bolin showcase the fine craftsmanship synonymous with this unique collection.
