Once upon a time, they shrank the world. Railway tracks linked cities together, stretching across continents like the seams of a sewing machine. Mighty steam locomotives thundered into stations, billowing smoke and flexing the muscles of industrialisation in gleaming black iron.
And that wonderful story is still unfolding today — only on a smaller scale. In garages and basements, it is time for departure. There, the buildings are constructed in traditional English style, with red brick walls and at least one chimney on every roof. In the rail yard stands a sturdy Ra 988 locomotive, waiting for its turn. But it will have to wait. First, those black SJ locomotives must be given the signal and set off across the landscape.
