One wonders how it will go for White. The man in the yellow jacket is in the process of moving one of his black pieces and taking control in the endgame. But White's general, a man with rolled-up sleeves, gazes at the board with the calmness that only a confident chess player can possess. In Ture Fabiansson's world, we become spectators of these dramatic games, listeners to musical performances, and occasionally encounter that uncle who struggles with his bathrobe.
Ture Fabiansson once studied under Otte Sköld and then traveled to Paris, the capital of art. There, he absorbed the influence of the truly great names without losing himself in them. On the contrary, he developed his own style, a kind of rigid naivety with strong colors and a dash of humor where needed.
When Växjö Auction House presented the first part of a collection of Ture Fabiansson's works last August, it was a success with surprisingly high final prices. Now it's time for part two. Welcome!
