Stig Lindberg was born in Umeå, northern Sweden in 1916. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stocholm.

1936, Lindberg started his cooperation with Gustavsberg Manufacture near Stockholm - later, during the 1940-s, also with the famous Nordiska Kompaniet "NK".

in 1957, Stig Lindberg left Gustavsberg to become a teacher in the Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm where his students included famous Swedish glass artists Ulrica Hydman-Vallien and Bertil Vallien.
