The company was founded in Stockholm in 1924 by Estrid Ericson. Almost all objects are still today manufactured in Sweden by highly skilled craftsmen. About 80 percent of all items are designed by Svenskt Tenn's own designers past and current. Notably of course by Austrian architect Josef Frank. Frank was offered the possibility to work for Estrid Ericson and Svenskt Tenn in 1934 and the duo rapidly became extremely successful. Frank left over 2000 designs for furniture and other objects and about 160 textile designs.
