"The 27th of October will be the 51th birthday of the Swedish journalist, poet and father of three Dawit Isaak. Isaak, who suffers from diabetes is imprisoned in a cell measuring 2x3 meters in the outskirts of Asmara, the capital of Eritrea. What Isaak has been through is nothing short of outrage: He has been imprisoned for over 14 years without ever having seen any accusations, without legal assistance, without trial or judgement. Even Eritrea's president, Isaias Afewerki has said that Isaak's punishment is not appropriate.
October 27th, Dawit Isaak's birthday, will be the starting date of Auctionet.com's online-auction where illustrations especially created by some of Sweden's most prominent illustrators will be hammered. The illustrations have been published on a regular basis by Swedish daily newspapers so as not to forget about the case.
The totality of the revenue of the auction will go without any provisions or hammering fees to an account especially created in favour of Dawit Isaak for him to have a starting-captital after his liberation. In case of his death, the funds will go to his family.
