Sir William Russell Flint (1880-1969) was a prominent Scottish artist known for his watercolour paintings and illustrations. He was born on April 4, 1880, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Flint initially studied at the Edinburgh Institution and later at the Royal Institution School of Art in Edinburgh. He began his career as an apprentice lithographic artist at a printing firm and then worked as an illustrator for various publications. During his early years, he also contributed illustrations to books and magazines.
In 1903, Flint moved to London and started working as a freelance artist and illustrator. He gained recognition for his ability to capture intricate details and his skilful use of watercolour. Flint's paintings often depicted elegant and beautifully rendered figures, particularly women.
