Josef Vohrabal was a Czech painter and musician, celebrated for his contributions to the art scene in Brno during the 20th century. Born in 1908, Vohrabal was largely self-taught as an artist, though he later completed studies at the Umělecko-průmyslová škola (School of Applied Arts) in Brno and learned painting techniques from local artist Jánuš Kubíček. Vohrabal’s career was marked by collaboration, especially with Kubíček and Bohumír Matal, with whom he co-created the notable mural “Slunce a pohyb” (Sun and Movement) in Brno.
