Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5 places Ceramics in the headline and presents some sixty lots of varied character under this theme. The selection is primarily focused on Swedish designers, though works from Denmark and France are also included. The undisputed highlight of the auction, however, is Italian: a striking black-and-white beauty standing 45 cm tall, created by Ettore Sottsass, crowns this curated selection of artistic ceramics.
It is presented alongside, among others, Hans Hedberg’s decorative high-fired faience, several pieces by Stig Lindberg and Berndt Friberg, a highly charismatic wall-mounted mask by Henrik Allert, a pair of organic bowls by Ulla Viotti, and a tripod vessel by Dagmar Norell. Two works by Rut Bryk are sure to attract attention, as are Eva Bengtsson’s diverse creations. And for those drawn to surprising richness of detail, Bertil Vallien’s horse is an excellent place to linger.
