To create a truly interesting, original, and cohesive art collection requires time, a discerning eye, and deep commitment. All of these qualities are represented here.
It is with both joy and anticipation that Crafoord Stockholm presents a highly personal collection in which charismatic modern painting forms the foundation.
The individual behind the collection prefers to speak about the works, the artists, and the pleasures of collecting rather than about themselves, and therefore chooses to remain anonymous. Their passion for collecting was awakened 30 years ago and has included detours into furniture and other design, social-historical objects, autographs, and books — but the main focus has always been modern art. This collection reflects the collector and has taken more than five years to assemble. The search has been concentrated on colourful, expressive oil paintings with an energy that immediately captures the viewer.
Rather than relying on already established truths and price levels, this is about pure joy of discovery — about finding and identifying undeniable quality where the potential is great and still largely untapped: the euphoria of the find.
Among the many interesting names in the collection, Niklas Asker is one of the most prominent. With a background in comic art, he now works to fuse the figurative and the abstract into a new and personal expression through traditional painting. Niklas Asker is becoming an increasingly established name internationally. This is the first time any of his works are being made available on the auction market.
Other highlights include Nick Alm and Finnish cult artist Sampsa Sarparanta, Julia Olofsson’s detailed fairy-tale worlds, AnnaMaria Rogberg’s bright everyday moments, the strict geometries of Eskil Hansson and Ilkka Pärni, Michael Qvarsebo’s strangely disarming cat face in large format, Erik Höglund’s colour surge Hoppet and Kjell Jörstedt’s dark strike Svärtans andar.
In total, the collection comprises around 70 works as well as photographs, sculptures, and books.
The collector’s conclusion is that between SEK 2,000 and 10,000, remarkable finds of genuinely high quality can be made.
Here, an entire collection of opportunities is served to you — all supporting that very idea.
