Bishop & Miller present their Modern Art & Design auction. The sale includes furniture, decorative arts, pictures and sculpture from the 20th century to the present day.
Furniture highlights include two Hans Wegner CH25 chairs for Carl Hansen & Son, an Arne Jacobsen Swan chair for Fritz Hansen and a Robert Heritage drum dining table for Archie Shine. Contemporary design comes from Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia, John Pawson and Jaime Hayon for Moooi. There is mid-century furniture by G-Plan, Nathan, Ercol and A. Younger, along with Bauhaus style cantilever seating and Art Deco pieces in the manner of Harry & Lou Epstein. The lighting includes a pair of Giancarlo Mattioli 'Nesso' lamps for Artemide, and the sale also features a Sinclair C5.
Decorative arts include a René Lalique 'Hirondelles' scent bottle and a large group of Moorcroft with designs by Sally Tuffin and Emma Bossons. There is also Charlotte Rhead, Poole Pottery, Keith Murray for Wedgwood and Liberty Tudric pewter, alongside art glass from Salviati and Toso of Murano and Scandinavian pieces attributed to Tamara Aladin and Willy Johansson. Earlier highlights include Victorian tiles by Minton Hollins and Craven Dunnill and an Aesthetic Movement fire surround.
The pictures include John Miller's 'Mounts Bay', with works by Frieda Hughes, James Hawkins, Michael Coulter and Brian Whelan. Sculpture comes from Laurence Broderick, Neal French and Ros Newman. The sale also includes a John Piper silk scarf, signed comics including a Stan Lee signed Spider-Man, and Royal Household Christmas presents.
