The Art Glass category includes everything from classic Swedish glass art to bowls, dishes and antique sculptures in crystal and glass. Popular designers include Edvin Öhrström, Vicke Lindstrand, Simon Gate, Ingeborg Lundin, Bertil Vallien and Ulrica Hydman-Vallien. Here, classic Orrefors grail and ariel coexist with Kosta Boda's colourful sculptures, as well as limited editions and hand-blown glass from smaller foundries, such as Bergdala, Skruf and Reijmyre.
British art glass is also well represented, with sought-after names like Whitefriars, Isle of Wight, Thomas Webb, Stuart and Sons, and Monart. Notable designers include Michael Harris, Jonathan Harris, Geoffrey Baxter and Peter Layton, whose innovative techniques and bold aesthetics have earned international acclaim. Many of the objects are signed and numbered, giving them special collector value.
Internationally, art glass from Murano, Daum, Lalique, Loetz and Baccarat is highly valued by collectors around the world. The archive contains objects by all of the above designers and practices, but also by Stig Lindberg, Sven Palmqvist, Anna Ehrner and many more.
Art glass differs from utility glass in its artistic focus - here it is not the function but the visual expression, the technique and the designer's vision that are at the centre.
Glass art is often produced in small series or as unique studio glasses, where each piece is an example of the artist's personal style and technique.
