Description

Signed E. Öhrström. Height with plinth 73 cm

HISTORIAN
Erik Öhrström debuted in 1953 with a large, iron-shaped sculpture, Tjurthead, which represented something completely new in Swedish glass art. At the Triennale in Milan in 1957, this main dominated the entrance to the Swedish department and aroused great prominence. He had, during the 40s, executed a series, in chalk, of powerfully drawn bull motifs that foreshadowed the work. This clear glass sculpture - he would later execute it in coloured versions - was the start of the mighty production of monumental sculpture in glass that would henceforth dominate his business

LITERATURE
