*Tinei Mashaya is one of a number of contemporary Zimbabwean sculptors delivering the art of Shona Sculpture to the global stage. Deriving its name from Shona people, an ethnic group native to Southern Africa, the sculptural movement has been gaining international recognition since the mid-20th century. Utilising stone derived from the Serpentine family, found in abundance in the Great Dyke Mountain Pass of Zimbabwe, Shona sculptors hold their medium in high esteem and have described the importance of allowing the material to reveal the beauty within. His works have been exhibited throughout Europe, the UK, the US and South Africa.
