
Signed ISAK Unique. Height 40 cm. Isak Isaksson was born in 1949 in Östersund but grew up in Västerås. He is self-taught mao self-taught, and has tried his hand through experiment and trial and error. Through hard work, he has become a distinguished potter.
Isak has worked with crystal glazes since 1982 and has a lot of different crystal formations. It was a reduction-fired red crystal glaze for which he received an honorable mention at the Tankosha Biennale in Kyoto in 1994, showing that he can do the most and the best in the world of glazes. His vessel forms are classical and remind the viewer of the utility vessels and other objects of the ancient world.
“It was an asset for me that I am self-taught. I didn't know what couldn't be done. It brought me many failures but in the end also borderline success." He has worked for many years designing the chawan, the bowls used to drink tea from in the Japanese tea ceremony art. Shapes and glazes vary and give the objects different character. His chawan has ended up with collectors in i.a. Tokyo and New York.
In 2019, Isak Isaksson was finally presented with a master's certificate – the highest award for ceramists in Sweden. He is represented at the National Museum, Stockholm. In addition to being a ceramicist, he is also an addiction and family therapist, trained partly at Tollare/Nacka and partly at Stockholm University.
Isak has had workshops in the following locations: Gotland, Baggers Backe 1976-1985 Österlånggatan 41, Gamla Stan 1986-1990 Järntorget, Gamla Stan 1990- 1998 Österlånggatan 20, Gamla Stan 1998 - 2005 Velamsunds Bruk, Nacka 2005-2011 Bergshamra Roslagen - current.
