Alexandre Sacha Garbell (1903-1970) was born in Riga,Latvia. Garbell was passionate about painting from a young age. After studying in Moscow Garbell travelled to Paris in 1923 to study under Bissière at the Académie Ranson.

Soon he was exhibiting at the most prestigious Paris Salons - the Salon des Superindépendants, the Salon des Tuilieries, the Salon Automne and the Salon de Mai. Garbell, continued to exhibit internationally after World War II including one-man exhibitions in Milan, London and New York.

This collection of works illustrate Garbell’s intense fascination with colour and exploration of abstraction. The artist takes the viewer along the streets of Naples, capturing figures going about their day to day to the intimate setting of his own back garden, celebrating nature at its finest.
