Isabella Wrangel was a Swedish painter, draughtswoman and graphic artist whose work spanned landscapes, still lifes, interiors and abstract compositions. Born in Paris in 1911 to artist parents, she studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm from 1933 to 1938, and furthered her education through study trips to France, the Netherlands and Denmark.

From Naturalism to Abstraction
Wrangel's early works often depicted serene Swedish landscapes and still lifes, characterised by a delicate use of colour and light. Over time, she embraced abstraction, creating compositions that balanced form and hue. Her versatility in both representational and abstract art showcases her adaptability and depth as an artist.

Exhibitions and Legacy
Throughout her career, Wrangel exhibited extensively in Sweden and internationally. She participated in group exhibitions at venues such as the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition and Liljevalchs Konsthall, and her work was featured in a Swedish touring exhibition in the United States from 1961 to 1965. She also held solo exhibitions at Gummesons Konsthall in Stockholm and in Landskrona.
Wrangel's artworks are represented in several public collections, including Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Malmö Museum, Malmö City Hall and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
