Biography

Sir George Clausen was an English artist born in 1852 in London and died in 1944 in Berkshire. He studied at the South Kensington Art School and later at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Clausen was a versatile artist who painted landscapes, portraits, and genre paintings.

His early works were influenced by French naturalism and his later works were influenced by impressionism.

Clausen was a member of several art societies, including the Royal Academy of Arts, the Royal Society of British Artists, and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. He was also a teacher at the Royal Academy and had a significant influence on many artists during his time.

Clausen was also an active writer and published several books, including "Aims and Ideals in Art" and "Art and Life." He was knighted in 1927 for his contribution to British art and became an important representative of English art during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
