763033. SHIP MODEL, "De Zeven Provincien", Holland, 1900s.
Description
Length 94, width 19, height excluding plinth 75 cm Info: De Zeven Provincien is the name of several ships in the Dutch navy throughout the ages. The name (The Seven Provinces) comes from the fact that Holland in the 17th century consisted of seven relatively independent provinces.
The model depicts one of the first De Zeven Provincien, built in 1664 to be used in the Anglo-Dutch War. The ship did well - as flagship under the famous Admiral de Ruyter, it brought down the English fleet.
A replica is under construction in Lelystad in the Netherlands by young apprentices. It was previously estimated to be ready in 2015, but construction has been stopped due to a lack of money.
Condition
Minor wear and not completely gone through. Some gun hatches are missing. Some loose parts and part of the railing at the back is missing.
