Nils Quennerstedt was born in Solna in 1910. He first trained as a pediatrician and then as a child and youth psychiatrist. He served for most of his working time as a child and youth psychiatrist within Stockholm's city schools. He was a true humanist, but also had an interest in old weapons and clockwork. He started silversmithing in retirement as a hobby. Nils died the day after his 76th birthday in 1986.
