Description
Maynard 1863 second model percussion carbine for the US Army. Manufactured in 20,202 units 1863-65. Marked MANUFACTURED BY MASS. ARMS CO CHICOPEE FALLS. With military inspection stamps and double cartouches on the wrist. Serial no. 17030.
Walnut stock, iron furniture. Blued, rifled barrel in .50 caliber. Receiver with preserved case hardening. Length 93 cm.
Kurage comment: An exceptionally fine example with nearly all original finish remaining.
Provenance. The specimen has been in Sweden since the late 19th century.
Condition
Large portion of preserved bluing on the barrel, mechanically in mint condition, bore with shine, sharp and clear rifling, minor spots in the chamber. Minor wear.
