In 1923, Carl Liljeberg started Trelleborgs Velocipedfabrik, which contract-built frames and front forks for other bicycle brands apart from the own brand TV, which was sold locally. The company grew gradually and was reorganized in 1940 into a limited company. In 1947, the Mustang bicycle brand debuted. The company was run successfully until the end of the 80s when other market demands and increased competition from imported bicycles changed the conditions. In 1989 the factory was sold to the Danish Smith & Co and production in Trelleborg ceased in 1994. The Mustang brand is still available for direct online sales.
