Swordsmith: SUKESADA 祐定 Sword School: Osafune 長船 Region: Bizen 備前 Manufacture Date: 1592(文禄Bunroku)-1596 Art Period: Azuchi Momoyama (1573-1603) Sword Period: Koto (800-1596) Total Blade Length: 46cm Nagasa: 39.3 Signed and dated: “備前國住長船祐定作” / “文禄二年八月日”- “Bizen no Kuni Ju Osafune Sukesada Saku”/ “Bunroku the second year of August” (August 1593) Based on signature and date is it likely that the blacksmith below made the blade. There were many who signed the Sukesada and the Japanese lived to a great age and were active for a long time and over several imperial periods.
