Or travelling chest, with a brass plaque inscribed "Commissary General Sir R. I. Routh", with 2 carry handles, 3 hasp and staple locks, and 2 padlocks, 56 x 90 x 55.5cm overall.

Notes: Commissary General Sir Randolph Isham Routh KCB (1782 – 1858), was the senior Commissariat officer at the Battle of Waterloo having been made a Deputy Commissary General in 1812. He was promoted to Commissary General in 1826 and subsequently stationed in Quebec. He received a Knighthood in 1841, and later received a KCB in 1948 for his services as Chairman of the Irish Famine Relief Commission.

Split to top, general marks and wear commensurate with age and use.
