Description

PONCET, CHARLES JAQUES. Journey through Abyssinia, made in 1698, 1699 and 1700, by Mr. Poncet French physician. Öfwerdering, Stockholm, (can be found at Joh. Christoph. Holmberg), 1781.
8:o. Approx. 180 x 110 mm. 94 p. Contemporary half-French band, raised bindings, gold liner rings on the back, splash-marbled binder paper, French deposition stamp from 1922 with J. Roosval's name on the inside of the front binder.

Provenance: Bertil Gustafsson (1940-2024). Bertil grew up with three siblings in nearby Mälaren and also Södertälje. He later trained as a picture teacher and then taught at the high school for the rest of his life. Bertil's interest in books was already evident at a young age. Among antiquaries and booksellers in Stockholm, many have had visits from Bertil Gustafsson. His great interest in both rare books and our wonderful nature resulted in an outstanding collection of fine books. His sense of the state of detail and wholeness, and his ability to find extremely fine copies of both more common and extremely rare books, are rarely seen.

Condition

Slightly worn band, ballpoint markings on the inside of the front cover, partly slightly sunlit inlay and some small spots.
