Description

SCHENSTROM, MAGNUS. Thesis on Strömsholms Canal and slusswärk. Uppsala (J.F. Edman) in 1797.
4th (250 x 190 mm). (6), 36, (3), (1 blank) 1 large foldable engraved map with hand coloured boundary lines (approx. 245 x 1470 mm), E. Åkerland, 1 foldable printed table. Contemporary marbled band, exlibris “Bibliotheca Carolo Jedvarda Bonde Collecta”.

With “List of gentlemen co-owners in Strömsholms sluusache”.

Provenance: Bertil Gustafsson (1940-2024). Bertil grew up with three siblings in nearby Mälaren and also Södertälje. He later trained as a picture teacher and then taught at the high school for the rest of his life. Bertil's interest in books was already evident at a young age. Among antiquaries and booksellers in Stockholm, many have had visits from Bertil Gustafsson. His great interest in both rare books and our wonderful nature resulted in an outstanding collection of fine books. His sense of the state of detail and wholeness, and his ability to find extremely fine copies of both more common and extremely rare books, are rarely seen.
