Label with inscription: "Bronze medal at the Exhibition in Porsgrund and Stockholm. Silver medal in Bergen. C. G. Helland, Bø i Telemarken. 1899" The label indicates a C. G. Helland as author, but this is possibly read as Knut Gunnarsson Helland alternatively his brother Gunnar Gunnarsson Helland. The Helland family has a long tradition as violin makers. The two aforementioned brothers moved to the United States in 1901 and in 1905 set up a workshop and shop where they sell their hardanger parts.

Length 59 cm.

Condition

Wear, repairs, later added gold paint, possibly a crack in the back.
