Description

Length 31 cm.

The Evertsberg pipe - the most famous of Dalarna's playing pipes. 8 finger holes on the top of the flute.

These pipes were last made in Evertsberg by three generations from the same family. The last one was Lars-Erik Andersson who made them until 2011. He took after his father and grandfather. They were mainly turned in spruce, but in the past several other types of wood have been used, such as pine, ale, juniper and birch.

The bagpipes from Dalarna form a small family of instruments that may never have had a prominent place, but were nevertheless an important part of musical life on farms and shacks. The bagpipe was a light and handy musical instrument that fit in the inner pocket and could brighten up life whenever and wherever the need arose and it could also perform dance music when needed. A large number of preserved instruments in museums and homesteads show great variation in execution.
