Description
Needle rifle for target shooting by Dörsch & v. Baumgartner's system. This system was tried militarily in various countries, including Italy during the 1860s with little success but was adopted by some smaller German duchies such as Schaumburg-Lippe.
Tagged PAT. SEPT. 22" in 1870, possibly US patent as the system was established in Europe during the 1860s.
Walnut flask with brass and iron fittings. Adjustable grain and sight, snell pressure. Grooved barrel in caliber 12,7mm/.50. Length 140 cm.
Courage comment: The Dörsch & v. Baumgartner weapon system is a very interesting weapon technology paratesis in the history of weapons. This is a very unusual specimen intended for precision shooting.
