Justus Danckerts (1635-1701), “Peloponnesus Hodie Moreæ Regnum, Distincte Divisum, in Omnes suas Provincias, Hodiernas atque Veteres, Cui et adiunguntur Insulæ Cefalonia, Zante, Cerigo et St. Maura... “, engraved and hand-colored map of Greece with islands, c. 1690.

In the lower left corner large tit-cartouche with the sword-wielding Venetian lion and Turkish prisoners commemorating the victories of Venice over the Ottoman Empire, when it recaptured Lefkas (Santa Maura) in 1684 and the Peloponnese (Morea) in 1685-87.

Condition

Yellowed, spots. Underlines with ink. Small scratch in the size scale of the title cartouche. Minor small defects along the edges of the leaf. The middle fold with tear (20mm) and fold at the bottom (partly in the picture). The right edge of the blade partially cut adjacent to the sheet edge.
Not framed.
