Description
Gun signed T. TURNER & SONS READING. Thomas Turner (1811-1886) was the son of the gunsmith and engraver Thomas Turner (1770-1843) of Marlborough. In 1838, Turner opened his own armory in Reading at the address of 3 Middle Row. He also made swords and executed engravings. He married Emma Jane Jarvis in 1840. Sons Thomas Henry and Edward Turner continued in their father's footsteps and the firm is still active as Thomas Turner Fishing Antiques.
Walnut barrel with mounts of iron and nickel silver. Smooth-bore barrel in caliber 18,95mm. Length 124 cm.
Condition
Mechanically well-functioning. New nipple. Wear and tear.
