510 x 420 mm (frame), 280 x 190 (visible image area). The frame with relief pattern, passe partout with cut in gold on the front, the framing shows both the front and the back of the leaf.

A sheet with German text that also shows a hand-coloured map of Crete in woodcut “Creta oder Candia”, as well as a woodcut depicting an elephant. Cosmographia was published in numerous editions between 1544 and 1628.

Condition

Frame with lighter wear, a few small spots on the blade.
