Image dimensions: Approx: 37 x 45 cm.
With frame: Approx: 55 x 62 cm.
Signed Wilh. Behm
Wilhelm Behm studied first at the Technical School and then continued for six years at the Landscape School of the Academy of Arts, 1879-85.
In his early painting, Behm worked in a manner close to Alfred Wahlberg's gray-toned colorite.
The years in Paris in 1889-90 changed his palette. Through contact with French art, Behm was moved towards an impressionistic light painting with a soft and warm colourite.
After his passing in 1934, Wilhelm Behm gained attention as a prominent landscape painter with two memorial exhibitions. First at Färg och Form in 1939 and then in 1942 at Konstnärshuset. His works are in several public collections, including that of Prince Eugens Waldemarsudde.
Age-related wear, frame rejection.
