With an ivory painted dial, black Roman and Arabic numerals, seconds dial, moon phase in the arch above, and spandrels painted with ladies, inscribed "Benjn Downs Mansfield", enclosing a 3 train 8 day musical movement striking on 8 graduated bells, in a mahogany case with crossbanding and inlaid herringbone stringing, shells, and bat wing spandrels, the hood with swan neck pediment flanking an eagle and ball finial, supported by Corinthian column with gilt metal capitals, the trunk door flanked by reeded quarter pilasters, on ogee bracket feet, H.238 x W.56 x D.27cm overall.

Cracking and losses to paint on dial. Some losses to veneer, particularly to crossbanding on door, and cracking. Loss to hood to left of right column, loss above rear right foot.
