Fruls Tilpo (Hans Eriksson) b.1960 In Stockholm. Educated at Kungl. Academy of Fine Arts 1981-1986. His art is colorful and expresses human emotions with a mixture of humor and seriousness often with a political awareness as a backdrop.
The artist duo Tilpo consists of Hans Eriksson, who previously worked under the pseudonym Fruls Tilpo, and Hanna Aihonen Eriksson. Hanna Aihonen Eriksson has extensive experience from the theatre and serves as a co-narrator in the works. The duo's collaboration with exhibitions and other artistic projects has lasted for twenty years.
Moderna Museet in Malmö 2022 showed Tilpo's largest museum painting exhibition to date. From the exhibition text of the Moderna Museet by curator Iris Müller-Westermann:
“In his paintings Tilpo takes us into fantastic, startling and tumultuous pictorial worlds where logic has been totally or partially put out of action. Anything can happen — it's only the imagination that sets the limits.
In the suggestive and brilliantly painted images there is seriousness and darkness but also flashes of light and a humorous look at the world we humans create and find ourselves in. It is up to the viewer to consider what it really is we are seeing. The works are multifaceted. They highlight various phenomena, they ask questions and thematize complex contexts. In an anxious time, they feel more anxious than ever.”
The artist duo is represented with three works in the collection of Moderna Museet, Pontus Hultén's collection and in a wide range of Swedish and Finnish museum collections, including EMMA Contemporary Artmuseum, Espoo, Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Malmö Art Museum, Bohusläns Museum, Gävleborgs Konstmuseum, etc.
