Description

Hand-assembled consisting of 1026 parts, cockpit with textile covered driver's seat, scale 1:18, part no.: M-034.

Original carton, certificate and cleaning cloth included, length approx. 24 cm.

HISTORY: With the Type C, Auto-Union participated in international racing competitions with a 750 kg race car in 1936, with the characteristics of being able to defeat established brands - especially the favorite Mercedes-Benz.

The car developed by Ferdinand Porsche had an important design feature: the revolutionary placement of a 16-cylinder V engine behind the driver and in front of the rear axle.

The engine was equipped with a Roots compressor, and the Type C in the third stage reached a power of 520 hp at 5000 rpm. This strength required the greatest possible sensitivity and complete driving skill on the part of the driver.

None other than Bernd Rosemeyer, the new star of the Grand Prix circus, mastered this car so skillfully and superbly that he became the undisputed top driver in 1936. For the mark with the four winding rings, he went from victory to victory.

The combination of the brilliant Type C racing car and the talented young driver Bernd Rosemeyer became a success story in 1936 with 5 Grand Prix victories and was crowned European Champion. Also in 1937 Bernd Rosemeyer was the superior driver with his Type C and was then able to win 5 more races for his own part - which additionally prevented Mercedes from achieving total dominance.
