Per Hasselberg was a Swedish sculptor born in Ronneby, Blekinge. He began his trajectory as a lumberman's pupil, carpenter's apprentice, and ornament sculptor. Hasselberg later studied at the Ècole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was one of Sweden's leading sculptors at the end of the 19th century and was close friends with Prince Eugen in whose art collection he is represented. Hasselberg was the first Swedish sculptor to receive a gold medal at the Paris Salon and he was a leading force in the opposition movement. Well-known works by Hasselberg include “The Snow Bell” which is in the collections of the Nationalmuseum, “The Frog”, “The Frog”, “The Frog” and “The Water Lily”, among others.
