Ingrid Simonsson was married to fellow artist Birger Simonsson, who together with Isaac
Grünewald was a leader in the artists' association “De Unga”, known as the 1909 men and introducers of modernism in Swedish art. Ingrid studied at the Higher Art Industrial School, now Konstfack, in the years 1901-1907. In early 1910, she traveled to Paris for further studies. There she met her future husband, the artist Birger Simonsson and thus entered the Scandinavian artists' circles in Paris.
