Watercolor 13 x 21 cm. Frame dimensions 23 x 31 cm. Signed Clara Löfgren and dated -83.

Clara Löfgren studied at the Art Academy in Stockholm 1870-75 and her art early resulted in commendations and prizes. She participated in the exhibitions of the Academy in 1873 and 1875.

After her years at the Academy of Fine Arts, she continued her studies in Paris and in Munich. Clara Löfgren was a prolific exhibitor. In addition to numerous exhibitions in Sweden, she participated in the Nordic Art Exhibition in Copenhagen in 1883. She also exhibited at the Salon in Paris in 1882 and 1885.

A driven portrait painter, she painted royalty such as Princess Eugénie, Crown Prince Gustaf and Prince Oscar Bernadotte, among others - but she was also a talented painter when it came to landscapes and floral still lifes.
