Description

45x30 cm

Provenance:
The artist himself, certificate included, was given as a gift to the current owner.

Other:
Erland Cullberg was diagnosed with schizophrenia, which greatly influenced his art. His artistic breakthrough came in 1986 with an exhibition at the Moderna museet where he was both acclaimed by critics and became a popular favorite. Cullberg took influences from both Emil Nolde and Edvard Munch. He painted everything in his studio, chairs, tables, cutlery - steron. Above all, he bombarded the linen cloths, both front and back, with layers of pastosa paint. His struggle with schizophrenia was not infrequently expressed through almost aggressive brush movements. A practice of self-therapy that never ended.
