Curious: during the Second World War, the defense needed binoculars of various kinds. Until the outbreak of war, Nife had imported optical glass from Jena, Germany. Imports ceased during the war.
In 1942, Göte Augustsson was hired to produce the optical glass. He succeeded. Göte Augustsson later started Ruda Glasbruk in Småland.
