A painting with the title “Des Enfants” from
Israeli artist Moshe Tamir (b. 1924 in Odessa, d. 2004) from 1988. The autograph is at the top right, the handwritten name of the work is on the back.
The work features human figures and three animals. The characters are likely to be a girl and a boy.
Despite the abstraction of forms, the work is given a cheerful and playful touch due to the colors used and the artist's brushwork.

Tamir graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts in Israel in 1947. There he received the Struck Prize from painter Mordechai Ardon. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. During his studies, he specialized in fresco and monumental painting. At the same time, he assisted the famous fresco painter Prozzo Parchi in the church of St. Eugene in Rome. Working closely with Parchi, he was able to refine his skills and create works using various techniques, including oil, fresco, drawing and gouache painting. One of his most famous frescoworks, “Amonon Wounded,” is now in the Tel Aviv Museum.

After moving to Paris in 1954, he lived and worked with Constantin Brâncusi, Jean Tinguely and Jean Dubuffet. At the same time, he attended the School of Fine Arts there. During this time, he developed his own version of nouvelle figuration by mixing everyday themes with mythological content that was formulated with thick, colorful and exhilarating layers of paint. His style achieved international fame, so that he received commissions for monumental frescoes in Chicago and Mexico City. He was also invited to present his works of art in four exhibitions at the Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels, including one together with the famous painter Pablo Picasso. Prominent and noble guests such as King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola came to admire his art. Some of his works are in private collections of noble houses, such as the collection of Queen Elizabeth of Belgium and the collection of Queen Silvia of Sweden. To this day, his works of art have a permanent place in museums around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, as well as museums in Amsterdam, Bogotá, Caracas, Rio de Janeiro, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Baltimore and Philadelphia.
