French artist Philippe de Rougemont comes from Lille and studied in Paris at the Académie Delecluse. Together with his Swedish wife Sigrid Wahlström, who was also an artist, he settled in Stockholm in 1919 and set up a studio there. He is particularly known for his portraits and lively nudes. Over the course of his career, he received numerous high-profile assignments, including several from Swedish dignitaries. In his portraits, he strived to capture the spirit of the person being portrayed and at the same time achieve the highest possible resemblance. His works can also be found in the Maritime Museum in Gothenburg and the collection of the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
