LIS ZWICK
was a Danish-Swedish artist residing at Drakabygget in Örkelljunga since 1968.
Zwick grew up in Copenhagen and in 1959 she practised as a cartoonist at the advertising agency Harlang & Toksvig. After that, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Aarhus for Professor Niels Lergård, Den Grafisk Højskole and the Free Experimental School in Copenhagen, as well as the Bauhaus Experimental School in Sweden. She made study trips to France, Italy, Greece and Mexico. In 1962-1963 she spent six months in Örkelljunga and at the Drakabyget artist collective where Hardy Strid and Jörgen Nash were teachers. She returned to Denmark to complete her studies but was back in Örkelljunga in 1968 since Jörgen Nash proposed to her. They married in 1969. Drakabygget was, in the 1960s and early 1970s, an artists' collective. There, in addition to Nash and Zwick, also lived Nash's children from previous marriages. In addition, there were always other artists and together they ran a farm with many animals. By the mid-1970s, the collective ceased and the Nash/Zwick family lived alone remaining on the farm. Zwick exhibited very extensively and participated in some 50 solo exhibitions. Lis Zwick is today represented in a large number of collections and museums in both Denmark and Sweden.
