Alkhovsky comes from a family of artists and studied at the well-known Academy 'I. E. Repin' in St. Petersburg, where he also worked as a lecturer in the following period. His works are influenced by the Russian avant-garde of the early 20th century — particularly the phase of Cubo-Futurism around Pavel Filonov. Alkhovsky's works became known through numerous exhibitions in Germany and St. Petersburg. Most recently, a retrospective of Alkhovsky's paintings from private collections took place at the 'Arts Square Gallery in St. Petersburg in April 2023.
