Frame dimensions 70 x 59 cm.
Born in Antwerp in 1931, Guy Van den Bulcke has lived and worked in Schoten, a suburb of Antwerp, for several decades. Van den Bulcke, who was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in Antwerp, has a career spanning several decades. He has exhibited his works at internationally renowned galleries such as Bozar in Brussels and Galleria Apollinaire in Milan. His works examine the place of man in the universe and our insignificance in relation to nature and the cosmos.
The auction painting has a raw, expressive quality associated with Abstract Expressionism. Deep reds, rich blues and whites create visual interest against the mostly black or muted base. There are also touches of beige, ocher and earth tones. On the reverse is a surviving label from Galerie Dorekens, Antwerp and is probably from around 1960-1970.
No remarks.
