Dimensions: 36 x 30.5 cm (height x width) Peter Paul Rubens Portrait of his son Nikolas, 1619. Nikolas Rubens (1618-1655) is the youngest son from his marriage to Isabella Brant. It shows him around 1619 at the age of one. The boy is adorned with a coral necklace, a symbol of child protection. Rubens used only three colors for the depiction: white and black chalk, sanguine.
