Emília de Torres (1910 - 2010) was a painter whose decision to take official studies at Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts was revolutionary at the time, given that women's presence was really scarce. Under the tutelage of masters such as Lluís Muntané, Ernest Santasusagna and Francesc Labarta, she graduated as a teacher in 1949. More significantly, she acquired a solid academic training that enabled her to develop her own distinctive plastic ‘language’, marking her artistic trajectory.
Emília de Torres's compositions focused on still lifes and floral motifs. Her style is mainly Impressionist, but with a Fauvist touch that distinguishes her from other more conventional landscape painters.
In good condition. Gilt wood frame. Not examined without frame.
